| Policies—Compliance Requirements |
Due within 30 days after the Policy Effective Date. Proof of Coverage Notice (WC 89 06 20) or IAIABC Form POC1 (as a Binder) may be submitted if the policy will not be issued within 30 days after the Policy Effective Date. (This does not eliminate the need to submit the policy.) |
| Cancellation—Compliance Requirements |
9/30/05 and before: Cancellations are due 30 days prior to the Cancellation Effective Date. Through 9/30/05, Maryland was not a Continuous Coverage state. 10/1/05 and later: Cancellations are due 30 days prior to the Cancellation Effective Date unless cancelled due to non-payment of premium. Cancellations due to non-payment of premium are due 10 days prior to the Cancellation Effective Date. Additionally, Maryland is now a Continuous Coverage state and Nonrenewal Cancellations are due 30 days prior to the Cancellation Effective Date. |

| Fines—Compliance Requirements |
$300 is assessed per occurrence for late reporting. If the fine is not paid within 60 days, the case is sent to a collection agency and a $51 collection fee is added (which is strictly enforced) Currently, no fines are assessed for missing data. Letters are sent to insureds requesting a response regarding what company their coverage is with. If insureds do not respond, or if they do not have coverage, the state fines $150 to $500 plus 15% of any claim award, not to exceed $2,500 for any one claim. |
| Appeals—Compliance Requirements |
Appeals must be filed with the State within two weeks from the date of the fine notice. After you have complied with the timeframes and other rules for submitting policy information and filing appeals, if NCCI can assist you with your appeal, please contact NCCI’s Customer Service Center. |
